Mmmm, mmmm, mmmm, Good.

I've been wanting to post this video for awhile. It's pretty darn cute. Apparently I'm a little vocal when encouraging Jane to eat because she had to pick this up from somewhere. And of course, once you take the camera out it loses 50% of it's cuteness because baby gets distracted, but here you go.

Speaking of baby food, Jane is really getting into finger foods and I'm having a hard time coming up with stuff to let her feed herself. Any ideas? She really prefers to feed herself and if it's in a spoon, she's pretty picky about texture. So I'd love to give her more opportunities to practice those fin motor skills.

We do the usual bananas and Gerber puffs. Then we also do rice krispies or saltine crackers broken up. A friend suggested taking avocado pieces and rolling them in like Cheerio dust (you know the stuff at the bottom of the bag) or even another cereal and that makes the avocado easier to pick up because it's not too slimy (yum, that sounds good, but you know what I mean-it's slippery).

We've also given Tucker pasta and craisins (torn real small). We kind of give him little bits of whatever we are having, and it keeps him busy while we're eating. Hope this helps

I love how vocal she is during her feedings! Too cute. I wish I could meet her in person! :)

Nathan LOVES finger food more than mushy food - sometimes I buy unsweetened canned fruits (pears/peaches) and cut them up for him to eat. My latest "ingenious" idea was buying a bag of frozen mixed vegetables. Then I just heat up a little bit for Nathan and he has some nice little pre-cut chunks of carrot, peas, and corn! Lots of color to play with. I heard that you can give babies cheese at this age, so I gave him some shredded cheese and he would pick it up and eat it shred by shred (so cute), but it is a little hard on his tummy. He also loves crackers or little bits of toasted (or untoasted) bread. I have actually come to find that he can eat crackers that aren't broken up into bits because he has stolen and eaten them at church on more than one occasion, but I am still a little paranoid about giving him big things. Anyway, there are some ideas!

And thanks for the comment(s) on my blog! :)
