CVs and Resumes

|
I'm working on my CV tonight. I really, really, REALLY thought that I had been keeping a document during grad school that was a CV-in process to write down all the dates and what and what not of what I did...yeah, not so much. Doing a quick search of "resume" on my computer, however, DOES pull up about 68 documents having to do with my husband's resumes from the last three years. Seems like a metaphor for what the last three years have been about, eh?

I'm only kind of kidding. I'm honestly shocked that I haven't touched a resume for myself since I APPLIED to grad school!! That was PRE-MARRIAGE, people! And despite feeling like a lousy feminist, I've been musing on the power of reading over your own resume. Dang, I sound good on paper! I done some cool stuff! I think I should write a "resume" every year or so and track all of my dazzling accomplishments. It would be so much more fun for me to read (and write) than the yearly Christmas letter. The point is to BRAG, to QUANTIFY and QUALIFY all that I've done, how I've fulfilled the job and how I've succeeded the job. Because when do we moms get that kind of strut-fodder??

Which is not to say that there aren't all kinds of built-in rewards to mothering. All day long I've had kids that need only me to kiss their knees or hands. Or squeal (perhaps a little too piercingly) because the Mommy Monster "got" them. Or dance parties. Or a toddler that can now do somersaults, but only when Mommy is watching... gotta say, I love my job. And if I didn't have an actual CV to write, I'd indulge myself right now and write a resume for the last few years of mothering and post it here. It's most likely that I will not get back to this sparkling idea of mine, but someone should do it and send it to me ! (not of me, of you.)

Here is my resume (short version):

Skills: -I can calm down a 1 year old having a tantrum.
-I can change a diaper in the middle of the night without turning on a light.
